Our National President visited Darkhorse Lodge, here is her report on their visit:

I have visited our national project Darkhorse Lodge a few times in the weeks and months since national convention. Darkhorse Lodge is still in development and making progress toward offering a place for combat veterans to take a moment of respite. It was my privilege to present them with the funds you raised for their benefit ($3482.60 U.S. Dollars), crocheted lap blankets, and a Parisopoly board game too.During those visits your Archivist Sheryl Hutchison, National Vice President Allison Barnes,National Treasurer Eleanor Hamby and Tom Hamby accompanied me.

Gold Star Mom and Darkhorse Lodge CEO Gretchen Catherwood gave us a tour of the building progress, future and needs. I never tire of hearing how it is going, what they are doing, and what they need. It was shared with me that some of their upcoming needs are: 30 Bibles (NRSV); ongoing supply of hotel sized (trial/travel small sized) shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion; lap blankets; and, quilts (lap or bed). She requests if the quilts are for a bed to please make it in neutral colors and Queen-sized. They have received donated furniture from the Quality Inn in Paris, Tennessee; including, queen-sized beds. Yes, that Quality Inn where we are staying for National Convention in October. Also, another person/group has donated brand-new Queen-sized mattresses for those beds! Stay tuned for more progress reports and requests for help.
